Welcome, from the Board President 2014

Dear Library Patron,

Welcome to the Tomkins Cove Public Library. Our library, once a school building, is a historic landmark in our community. We'd like the library to be more than a lovely building and serve as resource for the community providing you with access to high quality materials, services, and programs...a center for information, education, entertainment, and cultural enrichment.

Public libraries are unique community resources available to everyone for information, learning, and pleasure. In addition to our extensive collection of books our library offers a host of other services:

• Wireless access to the Internet throughout the entire building

• Public access computers

• Fax and copying

• Audio Books

• DVDs

• Extensive youth, teen, and adult programming

• Online databases

We've been busy over the last few years having restored the historic stone walls that surround the building, redoing the roof, and installing an array of solar panels. We've also doubled the number of programs and classes we offer including Saturday night open mic sessions, Zumba and Yoga classes, as well as many programs for children and young adults.

Presently, we're busy applying for grants to replace our heating system which broke down this winter, working with local historians to explore the creation of a history/museum room in an upstairs classroom, and investigating ways to improve parking. We've got a long list of improvements to implement, but if you have an idea to improve the library be sure to speak to one of our staff or Board members; we'd love to hear it.

If you haven't visited the library recently stop by and say hello, and be sure and check our new website for news and updates.

On behalf of the Board and the staff of the TCPL we wish you all the best,

Pete
