Common Questions About the Census:

Q: Do I need to be a US citizen?

A: Nope! It is not required that you be a citizen nor is it required to be documented. The census is just the government's way of finding out how many people are living here. Undocumented people will NOT be reported to ICE.

Q: What kinds of questions will I be asked?

A: You will be asked how many people are currently residing in your home, if your home is owned or rented, your telephone number, the name, age, date of birth, country of origin, sex, race, and relationship of all residents. There is NO question regarding citizenship status.

Q: Where can I find a sample copy of the census?

A: Click HERE

Q: How do I complete the census?

A: You can complete the census in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. To complete online, you can use the RCLS Gateway app for Android of iOS. Just locate the link for "Census 2020" and it will direct you. If you need any help, feel free to come in or contact us by phone. Remember: Your login information is your library card number and your PIN is the last 4 digits of the phone number linked to your library card. Census workers will also be visiting neighborhoods to collect data. Before answering any questions, be sure to check for the worker's ID badge, with their photograph, a U.S. Department of Commerce watermark, and an expiration date.
